Andy Murray returns with Brisbane win

Despite a victory in two sets over James Duckworth in Brisbane, Andy Murray says his future match fitness is uncertain.

Murray won the match 6-3, 6-4 over the Australian wildcard entry in just 90 minutes. This was his first match since September 2018 which saw his ranking slip to 240, having only played in six tounaments during the year.

Brisbane is a warm - up event for the Australian Open which starts on 14th January and there is no doubt that Murray is apprehensive about his fitness.

"It's been a really hard 18 months, a lot of ups and downs - it's been tricky to just get back on the court competing again.

"So I'm happy I'm back out here again. I want to try and enjoy it as much as I can and just try and enjoy playing tennis as long as I can. I don't know how much longer it's going to last but we'll see."
