The FIA have confirmed that the controversial Mercedes steering wheel suspension control will be banned in 2021
The Mercedes system works - named 'dual-axis steering' or DAS - by allowing the driver to pull on the steering wheel to straighten the front wheels as he comes on to a straight and then push back on it to revert to the 'toe-out' position as he enters a corner. Thereby improving straight line speed without compromising the corner handling
Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton are comfortably 1st and 2nd fastest in winter testing at Circuit de Catalunya so far.
